April Ross
April Ross is only one of the beach volleyball players who have earned medals multiple times at an Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days she will attempt to claim her third Olympic medal along with the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross hopes to win more than just her first Olympic medal. It may well be that this is her only opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. Still confident, however. This was an impressive career for Ross in the university. As a freshman in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 as well as NCAA The Freshman of the Year awards and was also an All-American. The Trojans had the chance to reach the Final Four with her help. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore season however she was able to return as an All-American. In her last two seasons as a player, she led the Trojans up to the top of the mountain by winning two three consecutive championships at the national level. In 2003-04, Ross was named the top female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in the US according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross who was a USC international relations major, was a volleyball star. Margie Ross wasn't able to see her daughter's rise to beach volleyball fame. As of 2001, when Ross was a sophomore at USC her mother passed away due to breast cancer. She is devoted to her late parent.
